Best Practices Shared

Here are some of the key best practices shared during our past events. We'll be adding more best practices after each seminar!

Curricula Best Practices

  • Curricula Management: When developing a phased approach to developing and launching curricula, focus on high-risk areas
  • Use Curricula Types to Organize Curricula: Use the Curricula Types feature in ComplianceWire to organize curricula into a high-level categories, such as business unit, function, etc. The Curricula Types can be used by administrators for reporting, and by learners for searching on the Catalog page.
  • How to Sequence Curricula: since the system currently does not support sequenced curricula, an administrator can stagger the assignment of a second curriculum, so as learners complete the first curriculum in 30 days, for example, another is assigned automatically based on the assignment date.

Training Item Best Practices

  • Building a Proper Nomenclature: When structuring naming conventions to apply to training items, use a segmented code that identifieds key levels of origination, such as a "Facility/Role/Department" approach, for easy retrieval and reporting
  • Recording Instructor-Led Courses Remotely: In ComplianceWire, use a generic training ID to open and close the roster, rather than having the instructors log on as themselves.
  • Adding Quizzes to Client-Authored Content: for client using authoring tools but seeking an easy way to add assessments, simply add the course via CICS, then add a Quiz to avoid AICC or SCORM issues.
  • Decentralizing Administration Compromises Data Integrity: A few attendees noted that decentralizing admin rights results in a loss of training item standardization
