Training External Contractors
Problem:
To comply with strict environmental regulations, a multinational petroleum company committed to facility wide training for its 1,900 onsite employees and 5,000 subcontractors. The company demanded accurate, defensible documentation of all training activities for regulatory, management and industry requirements.
Solution:
A series of custom learning programs and courses was developed for topics including energy source hazard recognition, permit-specific requirements, and defensive driving. Training was distributed to all employees and subcontractors by job function or job location. A test followed each course to assure comprehension. Completed coursework records are uploaded to a contractor/supplier database to comply with government and operator-specific recordkeeping requirements and for use by contracting agencies in procurement activities.
Results:
- Trained 5,000 external contractors
- Met all state training requirements for EH&S
- Consistent proficiency across workforce including employees and subcontractors
- Reinforced corporate commitment to safety, compliance and integrity
