The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, state regulators and federal legislators have expressed mounting concern about the actions of some brokers and agents working on behalf of Medicare Advantage Organizations (MAOs). In March 2008, CMS issued recommendations for Best Practices for Training Sales Agents and Brokers. CMS states, “…the principles explained in this memorandum are applicable across a wide range of Medicare Advantage (MA) products and Prescription Drug Plans.”
